Why does Maude Flanders enter at the end of the scene?

in which Lisa and Marge are asking whether Vincent Price is alive or dead? (episode Sunday, Cruddy Sunday)

It seems as though this is a joke reference to Maude Flanders being dead, but this episode aired in the season before she died... Just wondered what this was about? Marge phones the number given in the Vincent Price branded egg painting game, and at the end of the recorded message, Lisa asks if Price is really dead or not. Then Maude enters...would appreciate any explanation of this. Cheers.

Since scripts are often written months in advance, it's likely they already had the idea to kill off Maude and this was just some foreshadowing.
