Why does Lisa often have her hands on her hips? Likewise, why does Ned Flanders have one hand on his hip?

I've noticed that in official drawings (such as posters, profile pics, etc), Lisa is often drawn with both hands on her hips and Ned Flanders often has one hand, usually his right, on his hip. Why is this?

It's just a stylistic choice for the characters. Those characters have many different official artworks with different poses.
