Do you have to "Collect" the rewards before leaving a neighboring Springfield to get them?

Do I need to wait and press the "Collect" button when leaving a neighboring Springfield to collect the rewards, or can I move on to the next one immediately?

You don't have to collect them. They'll get automatically added to your total once you tap the icon/criminal and get the reward out.
